Thinking of starting a medicine and science based tumblr. I like my current tumblr as it is and I’m keeping it but I would also just like a blog where I can reblog stuff I find interesting and not have to go through all the puppy gifsets. xD

mr-cappadocia asked:

While I agree wholeheartedly that vaccines are absolutely beneficial they should not come at the cost of autonomy. If some people don't come around its on you, I and others to build a more convincing case. It wont be easy but facts are on our side.

aspiringdoctors answered:

Have you ever heard the saying that goes something along the lines of “Your right to swing your fists around ends at the other person’s nose”? So, the limit of personal autonomy is when it starts to impact other people. That is why mandatory vaccination to attend school is legal- because unvaccinated people literally, in the dictionary sense of the word, threaten the health and well being of others around them.

And, for the last time, this is not a discussion. This is not philosophy or politics where there are two sides to the story and both have some validity. There is no need to build a ‘stronger case’ because we have facts, and facts are not subject to the whims of belief. We need to improve scientific education and literacy in the public at large so people will be able to recognize the deception. That is the only way to solve this tragic problem.

A Florida Panther with still visible spots, and her young cub.
Cougars cubs retain their dark spots for up to 14 weeks, after that they begin to fade. The faded spots are still visible after a year, and in some cases ghosts of the markings remain for up to three years. So this girl might just be a young mother, as females have been known to successfully mate at as young as 20 months old.

Wow, that cougar looks really angry.
